In the words of Wolfgang Ambros "Skifoan is' des Leiwandste, wos ma si nur voarstöll'n ko. Und wann der Schnee staubt, und wann die Sunn' scheint, dann hob' i olles Glick in mir vereint." (Skiing is the greatest thing that you can imagine. And when the powdery snow fluffs up and the sun is shining then I couldn't be any happier.) Skiing north and south of the Brenner pass provides fun, variety, outstanding slopes, guaranteed snow and top dining! How great that one skiing area after another awaits you around the Parkhotel Matrei in the Wipp Valley!
Some of the skiing areas in the Wipp Valley and Stubai Valley are tranquil, some state of the art, some small but sophisticated, and some extensive and packed with variety. Here today, there tomorrow. However the mood takes you, your skiing holiday can be sedate one day and action-packed the next.
The Wipp Valley is one of the largest floodlit skiing areas in Europe. Skiing areas in unspoilt side valleys line up alongside vibrant skiing hot spots. Using the free ski shuttle you can reach the nearby skiing areas Steinach Bergeralm, Schlick 2000 and the Stubai Glacier. The skiing areas south of the Brenner pass, in the upper Wipp Valley, are also easy to reach: these include the skiing areas Ratschings, Rosskopf and Plose. Nearby nursery slopes for children and beginners can be found in Gschnitz, Navis, Trins and Vals.
